Can we glean anything from the average age of shark attack victims from around the world?
This question is a little silly, because (as far as I know) age of victim is not a factor that contributes to whether a shark incident happens or not. However, this question points back to the core of what drove this project: What are the chances I will encounter a shark in the water today?
While this question does not necessarily provide any breakthroughs, it helps to add a little more color to a complex question that has many factors. For example, if I am 33 years old and surfing La Jolla, is it safe to say the chances of my encountering a shark are higher than those of most other people in other areas? When folding in additional factors such as seasonality we can perhaps produce actionable information.
