Ian Norstad
Ian was born at a very young age in 1982. He was raised in Redondo Beach, California, and Albuquerque, New Mexico. He graduated with a BFA in Painting and Drawing from California College of the Arts in 2008, and currently lives in Sonoma County, California.
The Norstad Family:
Ian is the great- grandson of the painter and illustrator Magnus Norstad. Magnus was a highly collected oil painter, and has been described as “one of the great mysteries in Minnesota painting.” For more info on him please click here.
Eric Norstad is Ian’s great-uncle (and Magnus’ son.) He was a ceramicist widely known in the Bay Area for his stoneware pottery, and ran his company, Norstad Pottery based in Richmond, CA until he retired in 1998. For more info on Eric, please click here.
